David Slatter

Owner – Managing Director

Dave purchased Coasteel Engineering in 2016 in partnership with Jen McIntyre. Together they knew they had the experience and skills to successfully operate the business. Since then, Coasteel Engineering has gone from strength to strength and continues to grow in services and size.

Dave brings more than 40 years experience in the construction industry and 20 years experience managing steel fabrication businesses. He commenced his first trade when he was just 15 years old.

Dave holds dual tradesman qualifications as a Coach & Motor Body Builder and a Boilermaker, as well as higher educational qualifications in Business Management and Frontline Management. He is an avid believer in staying current with continual personal and professional development, so you will often hear about a relevant course or learning opportunity that he has undertaken.

To unwind, Dave likes to spend time on weekends either surfing, playing golf and spending time with his family. He also likes to travel with his partner Jen.

Jen McIntyre

Owner – Business Manager

Jen has overseen the development and operations of Coasteel Engineering since purchasing the business in 2016 in partnership with Dave. She has 10 years experience as a Senior Project Manager in the asset planning and construction department of a large university, and 30 years administration experience in the construction and education sectors.

Her educational qualifications add further depth to her skills, as she holds a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Public Health, a Diploma in Project Management, Certificate in Contract Management and she is a Justice of the Peace (C.Dec).

Jen is passionate about Coasteel Engineering and is driven to operate a business that goes beyond the ordinary in the delivery of service and the quality of product to its clients.

In her spare time, Jen loves to travel and spend time at the beach. She is also a dedicated yoga practitioner and will take time out on a yoga retreat whenever possible.

Jarrod Slatter

Project Manager and Estimator

Jarrod is a huge asset to the Coasteel team, having joined the family business in 2019 where his skills and experience were a welcoming and great fit.

Jarrod graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2015 with a Bachelor Civil Engineering (Honors) Majoring in Construction Management and with a Minor in Environmental Engineering.  During his studies, he gained employment conducting steel take-offs as a student engineer with two small Sunshine Coast firms, which gave him valuable industry experience.

Following the completion of his Degree, he worked with a private consultancy firm for four years as a Project Engineer, where he looked after numerous projects and clients.

Jarrod is also a member of ‘The Institution of Engineers Australia’ and can point you in the right direction for any engineering needs your project may require.

Jarrod enjoys the great outdoors, but in his spare time you will most likely find him surfing or playing golf. In 2022 Jarrod completed a Masters in Science (Astrophysics) – because who else likes to study in their spare time.

Jade Slatter

Legal Counsel and Contract Administrator

Jade joined the Coasteel Engineering team in 2020, bringing with her a new element of service that has been a catalyst for change and growth within the family business. 

Having completed her Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honors) at the Queensland University of Technology in 2017, Jade was admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland. Her experience in the legal industry, together with her knowledge and qualifications, are helping to expand the high-level service at Coasteel Engineering. 

Jade is responsible for undertaking contract reviews and negotiations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, and assisting with estimating and project management. 

In her spare time Jade loves surfing, spending time with her dog Koby (see his profile below) and enjoying good coffee at the local cafes.

Alana Lucarelli

Senior Accounts and Administration Officer

Alana joined the team in early 2017 as a part-time accounts and administration officer.  After a few years, Alana’s knowledge of the business led her to become the full-time office magician who manages accounts, payroll, administration, and assists the project team. 

Alana is now an integral part of the business, and is the friendly face and first point of contact when clients call or drop into the office.  Alana also closely assists the Business Manager on a daily basis.

On weekends you will find Alana curled up with a good book or spending time at the beach.

Alan Hamilton-Sturdy 

Production Manager

Alan is a highly valuable team member at Coasteel Engineering.  Alan is a qualified tradesman boilermaker with over 10 years experience and brings with him an impressive background in leadership roles throughout various fabrication industries. 

Alan is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of projects and coordinating the flow of work in the factory amongst our tradesmen and high-tech machinery.  He is the man in-the-know for the progress of all live projects and assists in the day-to-day scheduling and coordination of resources. 

In his spare time, you will find Alan hiking, camping, and spending time with his family.

Darren Prentis

Steel Detailer and Boilermaker

Darren is the in-house Steel Detailer for smaller projects, creating workshop drawings for fabrication purposes.  Darren liaises with clients to obtain information about their projects and draws them accordingly, utilising our 3D computer programs.

Darren is outstanding in his customer service skills, and makes all clients feel welcome and comfortable in the office. If workloads dictate, Darren applies his tradesman skills by working in the factory or attending to projects onsite to measure, fabricate and/or install.

Darren is a tradesman boilermaker with over 15 years experience, and has progressively increased his skills to incorporate CAD programs, making him a valuable asset to the Coasteel Engineering team. 

Most weekends are spent working on his farm, or spending time with his young family. Darren often spoils the team by bringing in delicious lychees from his farm.

Angus

Client Meet and Greet

Angus is a born and bred local and has been a valued part of the team since he was 3 months old. 

Angus loves to meet clients as they come through the door, and also loves getting the occasional pat. Clients have been known to come in just to bring him treats. He is also excellent at supervision of employees, and finds the office viewing window the perfect spot to watch from.

On the weekends you will find Angus busy sleeping or eating.

Koby

Wellbeing Officer

Koby is a favourite at Coasteel Engineering, and for good reason. Koby is incredibly friendly and loves to make friends with all the staff and our clients.

You will find Koby in the kitchen looking for treats, or at the feet of the office staff receiving pats or fast asleep. Koby is known to bring a fun and light-hearted energy into the room and will always find a way to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

On the weekends you will find Koby chasing his ball or swimming down at the beach.
